In December, we introduced you to police officer and self-made businessman Ali Sheikhani, Republican candidate for Fort Bend County Constable Pct. 3

Sheikhani, who immigrated from Pakistan to the U.S. when he was nineteen years old, discovered his American dream. He found incredible success as a prominent business figure in various industries.

“Yet Sheikhani didn’t simply bask in his blessings,” we wrote in December. Sheikhani’s strong sense of morality steered him to give back to his adoptive community. He became a police officer and founded a nonprofit organization in honor of his late mother, the Shamim Sheikhani Foundation.

This nonprofit organization, which he established in 2019, has fed the mouths of countless lower income families within Fort Bend County. The Shamim Sheikhani Foundation operates a full-service food kitchen and offers a range of other free public services, including clothing, bill assistance, financial assistance and medical aid relief to Houston’s impoverished populations.

For four years now, the nonprofit’s “Iftar Food Drive” has distributed 50,000 boxes of food during the month of Ramadan to community members in need. This amounts to some 2,000 boxes a day.

While Sheikhani is Muslim, his Shamim Sheikhani Foundation supports individuals in need of any religious backgrounds- not just Houston’s Muslim population.

In November, a sports coach at Sugar Land’s Stafford High School reached out to the foundation to help feed athletes and students. The Shamim Sheikhani Foundation donated about 2,000 boxes of hot meals to the students.

Sheikhani’s late mother, Shamim Sheikhani, was an energized believer in philanthropy and service to her community.

“When we give people what they need, God gives us what we need,” Shamim once said.

“Shamim Sheikhani set out to fulfill a dream, a dream of a world in which everyone can thrive and prosper together. She stayed positive, uplifting, and always found the strength to do more. She gave to her community a mother’s love, buying clothes, paying bills, medical expenses, and even went as far as to aid those in need by paying for their education,” the foundation said.

The foundation is dedicated to celebrating Shamim’s life and honoring her legacy by continuing her work in service.
