Dan Mathews Issues Statement Regarding State Rep. Gary Gates’ Failed Lawsuit to Remove Mathews from the Republican Primary Ballot and His Legislative Staff’s Criminal Trespassing on Private Property to Gather Evidence

Fort Bend County, TX – Republican State Representative candidate Dan Mathews issued the following statement today regarding the lawsuit filed against him by State Representative Gary Gates.

Mr. Gates filed an emergency civil lawsuit against Dan Mathews and Chairman of the Fort Bend County Republican Party, Dr. Bobby Eberle, to remove Mathews from the primary ballot in House District 28, claiming that he is ineligible to run due to his residency status.

The case was filed in the 268th District Court of Fort Bend County, but it was dismissed today in favor of Mathews. Gary’s legislative team had surveilled Mathews’ residence for several days and illegally entered their property to videotape and photograph through windows and tampered with Mathews’ campaign materials.

Dan Mathews said, “RINO Gary Gates showed his true colors this past week when he tried to interfere with the election. He attempted to remove us from the ballot through a malicious last-minute lawsuit against me. Today the court ruled in our favor.

Gary used two of his legislative staff and private investigators to trespass on my private property, spy on my family, and peek through windows to take pictures and videos. This resulted in significant emotional distress and financial hardship for both me and my family over the last two weeks.

After what he has put my wife and children through, I will fight harder than ever to win. His evil actions demonstrate that he is afraid of losing because of his unsuccessful tenure as a state representative. I’m grateful to my legal team and all my supporters. Now we can concentrate on the main issues.”
