SUGAR LAND, TX (August 12, 2022) – The third annual, Walk, Run, Stroll or Roll for All Abilities kicks off September 3-11, 2022. This event is sponsored by Primeway Federal Credit Union, which matches individual donors who give or raise at least $100 and will receive a dri-fit tee shirt. Families and friends will engage in unique race challenges at their own pace benefiting Hope For Three Autism Advocates. This nonprofit and advocacy organization works to raise community awareness and provide resources and support, in the form of financial aid, to families with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
About 1 out of every 44 children in the U.S. are diagnosed with ASD, and its prevalence has increased by 178% since 2000. The lifetime cost of care for one person with autism is estimated to extend up to $2,400,000. A family could spend an extra $60,000 per year per individual with autism on services, therapy, special schooling, and medical appointments. Hope For Three aims to raise more than $30,000 on registrations for this event, as well as monies from team fundraising to assist the local community.
“This event is for families to get creative, have fun and start conversations that generate awareness about autism,” said Hope For Three CEO Darla Farmer. “Funds raised go to support our essential programs that provide families with financial aid, resources, referrals, education, and information to the autism community and local professionals, businesses, and organizations.”
Registration for the event is available and requires a $25 registration fee. Participants are highly encouraged to fundraise, and rewards for top fundraisers, creative t-shirts, and best names will be given. Individuals within a team that raises at least $100 will receive an exclusive event t-shirt from Hope For Three. Finally, an awards ceremony will take place virtually on September 13, at 7 p.m.
Teams of families and friends can think outside the box by creating race challenges, use strollers, wheelchairs, or just plain walk or run, anytime Sept. 3-11, anywhere they prefer. For example, Missouri City councilwoman and Hope For Three board member Lynn Clouser has chosen to celebrate her September birthday with a walk team and invites the community to join her at River Pointe Church (21000 Southwest Freeway, Richmond 77469) on Sept. 10 from 9 A.M.-10:30 A.M. to walk together. Registrations start at 8:30 A.M.
Funds raised during this event will support the efforts of Hope For Three’s programs that have previously awarded more than $1.5 million in financial aid to families in need and provided resources to more than 6,000 inquiring parties, as well as impacting more than 16,600 students, counselors, nurses, and educators through programs such as Teen Huddle and It’s Cool To Care. The nonprofit has trained more than 2,500 members of law enforcement.
