An Escape Just a Hop Away for Easter Travels

When you live in Houston, it’s hard to find a drive-able getaway and even harder to find a unique one.

New Orleans might be best known for its party atmosphere, but it has much more to offer, even for families. With Easter right around the corner, a truly unique experience is available, and for the deal of a century. Spend the holiday weekend in a converted chapel home for – get ready – just $11.

Listed on home swapping platform Love Home Swap, a charming converted church house awaits travelers looking for something different than the standard hotel room. This 3-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom home sleeps 9 and is in the perfect location for adventure, just a short drive from City Park and the New Orleans Museum of Art.

Only one of many properties available to travelers, it is a unique alternative vacation rental option that has been seeing an increase in popularity in the last few years. With properties in some of the most affluent locations around the world, Love Home Swap lists 18,000 houses in 100+ countries for only $11 dollars a month. Unlike Airbnb or VRBO, home swapping allows you to literally swap your place (or use points if you can’t swap at the time) with someone else in your country or across the world, creating a mutually beneficial travel option.

How does it work? Members can choose from a classic, simultaneous swap, where they swap houses with someone else, either at the same time or on different dates, or a non-simultaneous points swap, allowing them to travel without having to match their plans with another member.

The cost is minimal, especially in comparison to most vacations. In fact, you can barely pitch a tent for these prices. Members can choose from three different monthly plans; lite ($11), standard ($13), and platinum ($15) for unlimited swaps.

The process is relatively simple and works just like you’ve seen in the movie The Holiday. You create a profile with information about your own home and any restrictions, browse through properties, find one of interest, contact the owners, discuss a swap, and you’re off and running.

Of course, you have to be comfortable with strangers using your home – and vice versa – and you need to practice security precautions, such as locking up personal items or anything of great value, but if you’re comfortable with that, home swapping can be an affordable, spontaneous, and fun way to travel.
