Take Me Out To Play Paintball

Spending quality-time together as a family is important in every home. The trouble is finding a family-friendly activity the whole family will enjoy. At Tank’s Paintball, providing a family fun activity for the Katy community is a top priority.

“We are really trying to be family friendly so the whole family can come out and have a good time,” Tank Tankersley Tank’s Paintball owner and founder said.

Tank’s Paintball offers not only paintball, but also airsoft play. With nine different fields, guests can have a different experience each time they come. Additionally, the courses on the fields are changed up over the year to create a totally new experience for guests.

“We are always making improvements and changing things up for our guests,” Tank said. “So when they come back it is likely never the same thing twice.”

Each of Tank’s Paintball’s nine different fields offers a different themed course. Some are in cleared land while others are designed into a wooded area on the property.

There is a military themed course where participants work together to rescue ‘injured’ players from a former military helicopter. Then there is the barrels of fun field filled with big metal barrels stacked all around and a dirt mound field that basically has numerous large mounds of dirt, some even with tunnels. Just to name a few.

In an effort to be even more family friendly, Tank’s Paintball utilizes a new low-impact paintball technology. Regular paintball is fun and safe, but can leave more of a mark on the players. Low-impact paintball uses a ball that is smaller in diameter leaving less of a mark on players.

“The low-impact is just a lot more fun,” Tank said. “When people think of paintball, they often think of big bruises. That’s not the case with the low-impact. It doesn’t have the weight behind it. So it doesn’t do as much physical damage when it hits your body.”

The low-impact paintball is also played with a smaller marker making it easier for younger kids to play the game. While Tank’s Paintball still offers regular paintball, they are now about 90% low-impact.

“The players like to come back more often to play now instead of doing it just once a year,” Tank said. “They will come back more often because they had a great time.”

Besides weekend paintball and airsoft play, one of Tank’s Paintball most requested services is birthday parties. Tank’s Paintball is big on customer service. Repeat birthday party customers is a testament to that.

“Our customers turn into friends,” Tank said. “Some have their parties here year after year, after year. We’ve had some kids have their birthday parties eight years in a row with us. We’ve watched them grow up. It’s really a cool thing.”

The guest experience is extremely important at Tank’s Paintball. Tank’s Paintball enjoys hosting scenario-based games for guests. For example, earlier this year in January they hosted a game loosely based on ‘The Predator’ movie and plan to host another in February of 2019 loosely based on the video game ‘Halo.’

“It is a lot of fun,” Tank said. “I think it helps get kids off of the couch, because it is something they already know from the movies or video games.. That’s why I like to do these games.”

Even if it isn’t a special scenario game, Tank’s Paintball does a themed weekend once a month to keep things interesting. Around the Super Bowl they will offer dis-counts to players sporting a jersey of one of the championship teams. During Christmas, they will do a Kringle vs. Krampus theme. This one is not just for fun though.

“The Kringle vs. Krampus weekend is a fundraiser too,” Tank said. “I take a percentage of the profits from that weekend to buy toys to take to Texas Children’s Hospital in Katy. We also ask our guests to bring unopened toys to donate during part of November and all of December.”

Giving back and being active in the community is also important to Tank’s Paintball. Besides the toy donations, Tank’s Paintball is involved in numerous fundraisers and activities for local schools and churches. They will often donate their time and equipment to be used in some way.

“We will show up and have target ranges set up for the kids,” Tank said. “Our community keeps us alive everyday. If we didn’t have the community, we wouldn’t be a viable business. So we give back as much as we can as a way to say thank you.”

At Tank’s Paintball, there is fun to be had for the whole family. Their skilled workers will help your family get the most out of your experience by leading you in the right direction when it comes to gear and ammunition. They have numerous options available for all ranges of experience.

“We talk to the customer and find out what their goals are and how often they want to play,” Tank said. “We get them to the level they want to be at without breaking the bank, because we’re not about making money off of them that one time. I want them to keep coming to the field every week, every month or a couple times a year to play. I want long-term customers. Not just one-time players.”
