In response to President Joe Biden’s announcement of withdrawing from the 2024 election and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris, CatholicVote President Brian Burch criticized Harris for her subtle yet persistent hostility towards Christians and Catholics.
“Kamala Harris hates what we believe,” Burch stated.
He elaborated on Harris’ stance, alleging that she believes faithful Catholics should be ineligible to serve as federal judges. Burch pointed to Harris’ opposition to Judge Brian Buescher, a member of the global Catholic fraternal service order, the Knights of Columbus.
Buescher was appointed by then-President Donald Trump to the federal bench.
According to Burch, Harris questioned Buescher about the Knights’ positions on life and marriage, views aligned with Catholic Church teachings.
“Harris then asked if he intended to renounce his membership with the Knights if he was confirmed,” Burch added.
Burch condemned Harris’ actions as unconstitutional and described her vision of Catholicism as one that requires adherents to abandon their core beliefs.
He also highlighted her strong support for abortion rights during her tenure in the U.S. Senate, noting her perfect one-hundred rating from Planned Parenthood.
Burch emphasized that Harris’ opposition to Catholic teachings predates her Senate career, citing her support as California Attorney General for a state law requiring pregnancy care centers to advertise information about abortion services.
To Harris’ dismay, this law was ultimately overturned by the Supreme Court in 2018.
“Over the past three years, she was given two jobs: Fix the border, and serve as Joe Biden’s abortion political henchman,” Burch remarked.
In conclusion, Burch asserted, “Kamala Harris must be stopped.”
