Letter from the Publisher

It’s hard to believe that another school year has come and gone. My youngest daughter, Naomi, is officially a Senior! I couldn’t be more proud of her, but my feelings are bittersweet. After her final year of high school, Naomi will leave for college and I will officially be an empty-nester. As many of you have already experienced, it is such a strange feeling when the decades of your life you’ve dedicated to raising children come to an end. I myself was in school thirty-five years ago, yet it seems like just yesterday. Where does the time go? So many of us are guilty of living our lives with an immortality complex. We all understand the necessity of making plans for the tangible future, yet we so often neglect making strides toward our eternal future. Itineraries are created for our next family vacations, 401ks are taken out for our retirements. These plans are necessary for more comfortable and enjoyable lives, but as Christians we must remember that the physical world is merely a phase in our existences. Life on Earth is short; James 4:14 says, “Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” Do not put off until tomorrow what you can do today. Plan for eternity. If you haven’t accepted Christ as your savior, make that life-changing decision today. The only certainty in this world is that nobody knows what tomorrow will bring. Once you have the assurance of Salvation, do your best to live a Jesus-inspired life. Akin to saving money for your retirement on Earth, practicing attributes such as generosity, kindness,
and tolerance earns you eternal treasures in Heaven.

“19 Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Matthew 6:19-21 New King James Version (NKJV)
